Latin america has a very wonderful history.
But one of them which was an enigma for me when I was younger and reading history or geography, is low population of Brasilia the capital of Brazil, even though the country is among the most populated and overcrowded ones. That lasts until sometimes later I found their capital has been changed recently.
here is the story:
As you may know though Brazil is one the richest countries in the world, much of it has not yet been developed.
Mainly for this reason the Brazilian government decided to have a new city built 900km (600 miles) in north-west of Rio de Janeiro. Furthermore designed by the great architect Lucio Costa, the new city, Brasilia, replaced Rio as the capital of the state in 1960.
For avoiding future problems Brasilia has been carefully planned for modern living. Even it's wide roads, which can take up to fourteen lanes of traffic, have been kept away from living areas.
But at first, the government had great difficulties in persuading people to leave Rio and settle in Brasilia. However since 1960 it's population has been growing all the time and it has quickly established itself as the capital of the country, even now it's still a medium city in compare to other cities of Brazil mainly São Paulo and Rio.
Although of those things, some say the idea to have the capital moved so far inland will have a great effect on the future of Brazil.
